Project Overview
The main objective of Ploutos project is to help rebalance the agri-food value chain and enhance its sustainability (economic, environmental and social) by establishing a Sustainable Innovation Framework that is powered by an innovative combination of behavior change, collaborative business model innovation and data driven technological services. Using a lean multi-stakeholder approach, Ploutos will be focusing on leveraging the capacities of supporting services to help build mutuality (i.e. shared benefits) for all stakeholders involved in the agri-food ecosystem. With the creation of the Ploutos Innovation Academy, the innovations and best practices developed within the project and identified from the wider literature and relevant projects will be validated across all eleven (11) Sustainable Innovation Pilots within the project and made available to the whole agri-food ecosystem. The inclusive multi-actor approach of Ploutos will ensure the sustainability of its results beyond the life of the project, contributing to more competitive, efficient, resilient, sustainable and better performing agri-food value chains in the long term.

Start date of the project: 01.10.2020
Project duration: 3 years
Program: Horizon 2020
Role of GGP
GGP will participate as pilot partner in the Sustainable Innovation Pilot 9 in Serbia and North Macedonia, together with FSH Serbia as pilot leader, aiming to facilitate the transfer of surplus food from farms to socially disadvantaged groups, by aligning logistics and processes. GGP will facilitate the transferability of the pilots’ developments in North Macedonia providing connection with farmers, retailers, food producers, distributers and end users. GGP will also contribute in the dissemination and communication activities of the project.
Project Objectives
- Establish an ecosystem of innovative agri-food chains across Europe and assess them and their unique mix of innovations against their ability to achieve sustainability and cooperation across the value chain;
- Create a Sustainable Innovation Framework that is building on behaviour innovation, sustainable collaborative business models and data-driven technology innovation, to enable the redesign of agri-food value chains and improve their performance in terms of sustainability and cooperation among the value chain actors;
- Provide targeted supporting services to the engaged agri-food value chains, delivered through the Ploutos Innovation Academy, to help them co-design and apply the proposed innovations WP5;
- Validate the designed innovations through the selected agri-food value chains, where they will be piloted, demonstrated and tested in real conditions by the engaged actors;
